Agricultural Law WorkshopÂ

Join the PA Veteran Farming Project and attorney Rob Davidson for a one-hour overview of legal considerations for small farms. We'll discuss:
· Agritourism liability considerations
· Not-for-fee landowner liability
· Accounting/Taxes considerations when choosing business structures
· Zoning and how it affects farms
· PA's Right to Farm law
· Ag Security Area Law (benefits and regulations)
· Nutrient vs Manure Management Plans
Following the event, with grant funding from USDA, half-hour consultations for veterans/military/their spouses and those fitting the USDA definition of "sociallly disadvantaged"** farmers  will be availablewith Mr. Davidson  to prepare you to meet with your attorney and put into practice what you learn. A limited number of consultations are available only to veterans/military'/spouses attending the workshop and presenting proof of service.* Email us with questions.
Note: PA's Farm Vitality Grant can be used to reimburse up to 75% of your attorney or account fees for planning for your farm, while funds last. (Up to $7500). PA Veteran Farming Project staff will be on hand to offer information on this grant opportunity.
About the presenter:
D. Robert Davidson, Esq., along with his wife and children, raise and market lambs on their farm in Columbia County. Â Rob is also an attorney with extensive experience in agricultural law, practicing in Bloomsburg, PA, with Hummel, Lewis & Davidson, LLP. He previously has worked for AgChoice Farm Credit and the PA Department of Agriculture in senior roles. Rob is a recognized authority on farm succession and transitions, regulations affecting agriculture, zoning and permitting, and liability concerns for farmers.
*Eligibility for free ½ hour consultations following the 1 hour workshop: Veterans with other than dishonorable discharge, AD, Guard, Reserve, and their spouses. Present proof of service to reserve your slot upon arrival at the workshop. Limited time slots available.
