Bee Bootcamp 2023 Harrisburg

If you're a veteran who's kept bees for 5 years or less and want to gain science-based knowledge of hive management, Bee Bootcamp is for you in this monthly class at HAAC.  Dates TBD 3rd or 4th weekend of the month April-October.

Instructor: Gary Carns This is Gary's third season leading NE PA Bee Bootcamp in association with the PA Veteran Farming Project and PA State Beekeepers Association.

You'll have the opportunity to work together to  observe the workings of HAAC's demonstration working hives and practice skills to improve your beekeeping. Instruction is science-based and aligns with the Bee Bootcamp syllabus from the PA State Beekeeping Association.

Be advised: this is a once-monthly, sequential class, in which your knowledge will build as the season progresses. It is not a drop-in class, so you're asked to commit to the monthly weekend sessions for the full course. As our instructors are volunteers, we ask that if you sign up for the class, you commit to attending each month. If you must miss a class, it is expected that you will contact your instructor at least 2 days prior to the scheduled class.

Plan to bring documentation of military service to the first class (DD-21, military ID, or VA healthcare card). At this time, the class is for veterans only, but if space allows, spouses may be able to join you. 

We highly recommend you also enroll in the Heroes to Hives online training as well, which is free to veterans and dependents.
