About the event

If you've had hives for 5 years or less and are looking for science-based instruction to improve your beekeeping skills, this course is for you.

Instructor: Bob Tatro, PA National Guard veteran, PA State Beekeepers Association, and Steve Repasky, Master Beekeeper.

You'll have the opportunity to practie your beekeeping skills at the working hives at Pittsburgh airport.

Be advised: this is a once-monthly, sequential class, in which your knowledge will build as the season progresses. It is not a drop-in class, so you're asked to commit to the monthly weekend sessions for the full course. As our instructors are volunteers, we ask that if you sign up for the class, you commit to attending each month. If you must miss a class, it is expected that you will contact your instructor at least 2 days prior to the scheduled class.

Schedule: 2nd Sunday of the month: April 9th, May 14th (possibly will reschedule around Mother's Day), June 11th, July 9th, August 13th, September 10th, October 15th, November 12th.

Please bring documentation of military service to the first class (DD-214 or VA healthcare card). The Bee Bootcamp model is a military/veteran model. If your spouse will be keeping bees with you, they may enroll as well.

We highly recommend you also enroll in the Heroes to Hives online training as well, which is free to veterans and dependents.
