Poughkeepsie Farm Project is a nonprofit, Certified Naturally Grown farm growing mixed vegetables and
some berries on about 14 acres in Poughkeepsie, NY. We seek dependable, hard-working, passionate, and
creative individuals to help us achieve our high production goals and serve the community well. We produce
for a 500-member CSA and to a growing network of wholesale customers. We are proud to donate 20% of the
produce we grow, through our FoodShare program, to partner social service agencies in Poughkeepsie, as
well as to individuals and families through sponsored CSA shares.

March through November with potential for winter work.
We are seeking a motivated individual with at least 1 season of farming experience and preferably some marketing or produce buying experience for this position. The Wholesale Coordinator is a member of the field crew; this crewmember is engaged in harvest, weeding, maintenance, greenhouse seeding, etc., in addition to coordination and continued development of our wholesale program.
Wholesale duties include:
Communicating with customers about availability, quality, and orders
Working with the Crew Leader and farm staff to fill orders and maintain quality standards
Ensuring accurate bookkeeping, including regular coordination with the Office Manager
Meeting seasonal sales goals, and reaching out to new markets when necessary
The Wholesale Coordinator will be compensated with an hourly wage of $13-$15 based on experience; a produce share; and will benefit from experience-based training.
Field Crew Member
March through November with potential for winter work
The ideal field crew member is energetic and self-motivated, with an interest in sustainable agriculture; the ability to work hard; and attention to detail. Applicants should have completed at least a summer internship on a vegetable farm (full season experience preferred). Field crew members work in collaboration with interns and the 5 experienced members of the farm crew in all aspects of farm production and distribution. Production at PFP features lots of community involvement, and thus crewmembers should be able to manage work groups effectively and maintain a positive attitude.
The Field Crew Member is compensated with an hourly wage of $12-13; a produce share; and will benefit from experience-based training, including tractor training.
Summer Farm Intern
Late May through late August (14 weeks)
Our 3 summer farm interns will participate in most areas of farm production and will receive well-rounded training in mixed vegetable farming and in managing work groups. They will work closely with the Farm Director and the experienced members of the farm crew, gaining knowledge and skills helpful in pursuing careers in the field (pun intended).
Over the course of the season, interns will have exposure to a wide range of farming activities and skills including:
-Greenhouse seeding and maintenance
-Transplanting and farm bed preparation
-Crop management, pest control, and irrigation
-Harvest and CSA distribution set-up
-Managing farm volunteers and CSA members
-Tractor and equipment safety
Farm interns earn $10 hourly, and receive a produce share and loads of on-the-job training. Interns also participate in Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training (CRAFT) farm visits, as well as focused discussions on the politics of food and farming.
PFP does not offer housing, but summer interns may be able to secure dormitory-style housing at Vassar College, across the street in Poughkeepsie.
